Wind Power Lights Lady Liberty
Did you know that the Statue of Liberty now receives 100 percent of its electricity from wind power? The U.S. National Park Service is purchasing 27 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of wind power to cover the electricity needs for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island museum over a period of three years. The energy will come from wind turbines in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
