Electricity – Then & Now

In Wisconsin, the number of electric consumers grew from 1.4 million in 1970 to 2.4 million in 2004, according to the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Division of Energy. Over that same period, energy use per customer has gone from roughly 6,700 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year to 8,500 kWh per year – a 28% increase. Ironically, this increase continues to occur even as we become more aware of energy issues and the amount of electricity it takes to power homes and businesses.

As another year passes and we look toward 2007, take a moment to examine your consumption and look for ways to resolve to be better, more efficient, users of electricity in the new year.
