Community Involvement

Community InvolvementBeing part of the community we serve is a role that Menasha Utilities takes seriously. As your local utility, we work hard to be an active participant by lending a hand in community service projects and offering various educational programs.

We have pledged a strong commitment to not only our customers, but to our community. Through a number of civic-minded activities, Menasha Utilities has fostered strong relationships that help further our connection to the community.  Here are a few of the ways we make a difference where we live.

Dollars Injected Locally

  • The utility helps relieve the local tax burden by making payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) to the City of Menasha, totaling nearly $1.3 million dollars annually.

  • $1,500 to local students in scholarships.

  • $1,000 in donations to Community Clothes Closet and local pantries.

  • Donated 150 energy and water efficiency kits, in addition to the $10,144 donated by our generous customers to the Project Share fund at LEAVEN.

  • Brought the National Theater for Children to local elementary school.

  • Paid residential customer $1,800 in 2016 for Energy Star and Tree Power rebates.

  • Gave 600 energy efficiency kits to customers in celebration of Public Power Week.

  • $13,330 contributed to the City of Menasha for LED street lights through our power provider, WPPI Energy.

  • Paid over $1,265 to local businesses toward energy efficiency project incentives and training.

  • Gave $500 toward "MENASHA STRONG" project.

Community Programs & Services

  • Offer recycling for holiday lights since 2012.

  • Attend Menasha Farm Fresh Market to share programs, services, and prizes with customer.

  • Host recycling events which saved more than 146,714 pounds of electronics and appliances from landfills.

  • Menasha Utilities employees sponsored two Menasha families through the Boys & Girls Club at Christmas by donating gifts for the children and parents.

  • Participate in Menasha's Halloween Trick-or-Treat, Corny Community Walk, and Arbor Day celebrations.

  • Landlord Breakfast to share efficiency programs and utility information since 2015.
